Hello and welcome to the Abundant Life Christian Academy. I am honored that God has given me an opportunity to work in his vineyard in the field of Christian education. As the principal of Abundant Life Christian Academy, I, along with the teaching staff and other stakeholders, intend to cultivate the development of your child spiritually, academically and socially. Having had the opportunity to mentor many youth over the past 17 years, it is my contention that self-esteem plays an important role in the area of student success. We will always seek to build up the student while at the same time challenge him or her to achieve at their full potential.

Here at Abundant Life Christian Academy, our mission is to provide your child with a Christ centered environment and offer a vigorous academic experience that will maximize student learning. Abundant Life will be offering a mandatory tutorial program in the area of math and reading. Our students will not only be involved in contextual science instruction and innovative technology, but they will continue to be inundated with multiple hands-on science activities. Writing centers will also be embraced in our school as we set out to ensure that our students can master the writing process set forth by our curriculum that is aligned with the state standards.

Having served for over 17 years as a teacher, assistant principal and principal, it has become increasingly clear to me how important it is to assess student learning on a consistent basis. All of the aforementioned activities are important, but the key is to validate that the students are “getting it”. Students must be offered a tremendous amount of formative assessment (assessing for learning) to determine immediately if learning is taking place. Effective teaching and student learning cannot exist without each other.

Finally, it is my assertion that ALL students “will” learn at maximum learning levels, when offered sincere love and respect, spiritual guidance and innovative teaching strategies. This type of pedagogy, accompanied with a great deal of parent support and involvement will be the key ingredients to ensuring that our students are prepared for success in the 21st century.
